Cake Decorating Home Party Classes

I still teach cake decorating home party classes. Each class has 4 sessions. If you would like to host a class gather at least 3 friends and contact me. Cost $40 a class.

Also this is my hobby, but I love to make cakes and other goodies. Call me for any orders.

Goodbye Flowers and Borders

My second flowers an borders class has ended. It is sad in a way because I enjoy the classes so much. I have not been very good at documenting it. Here some pictures from the class.

I am so proud of how they stuck in there. Flowers are not the easiest thing to make, but we were able to have lots of fun making them.

So Updates........

Well school has started. Being a special education teacher that means I have been busy. Here is an update of some things I've done.

First I've had my beginning class going. I have a small class, but they sure are fun.

In the fun of cake classes my hubby and friend's daughter had a birthday so two cakes were made. My hubby wanted a Black Forest cake. It was really messy so we put it in a trifle container. My friends daughter loves horses. She's also all girl so My Little Ponies seemed like the perfect addition.

Pastry Classes In Boulder

I have totally been a party animal and thought I would share. I went to Boulder CO June 28-July 2. I attended the Culinary School of the Rockies pastry vacation. It was wonderful. Day 1- we made a lot of pastry doughs and got things ready to make tarts, pies, and quiche crusts.

Day 2 Cake
We finished a lot from day one then made our cakes to decorate on day 3. We learned not to overmix the batter. Our cake still turned out yummy. It was the Chocolate one.

Day 3-
Icecream- We made all the bases for our icecream. We let them Ripen overnight it makes them tastier and creamier.
Day 4-
Puff Pastry, Baked custards, etc.
I was so proud of the Creme Brulee we made it was so much fun. Our fruit Chaussons were yummy but sadly I did not get a picture of them.

Day 5-
This was one of my proudest days. We made Souffles. Ours turned out so good. We were broken up in groups and our cake had been a little of a flop so to have such beautiful souffles was great. We also made mousse and truffles. The whole vacation was a total treat literally.

Cake Class Withdrawals

Ok so I am a foodie. I know I am and happily admit it. I have been trying to be good because I am on a summer slim down for work. So I haven't baked anything in a few weeks. I am going through withdrawals. When I had my cake class they helped me do baking, but then I was able to give it away. Now I am ready to bake something, but know if I do I'll eat it. Maybe that's part of the appeal also. I have hence started looking at food blogs on the Internet. I don't think that was too good of an idea, I want to bake more than ever. I miss teaching my classes. I do get to go to pastry class vacation in two weeks and am very excited. I am thinking of doing a summer class with some summer cupcakes and decorations. I was thinking July 6th any takers? The class would be from 6-8pm $10. Happy Baking.

Goodbye last beginning class

Parting is such sweet sorrow. Summer seems to be the most busy time for people and I am no exception. Because of the craziness of June and July my next classes aren't until the end of July. I am posting pictures of the final projects of my classes. The last class is my favorite. I feel like it is a wonderful time when all goes together.

Here's what my class had to say-

"I loved everything about the class. I feel ready to decorate!"-Savannah

What did you like best about the class? "Learning stars and creating the bear cake using them." -Jessica

Beary Fun!

In the beginning class one of the projects is to make bears. The bears are very cute and take a little time to get the technique down. Here are what the class was able to do.

Roses and Daisies

In our class we had a roses and daisies party. I really wore them out, but I have been impressed by what my class was able to do.

Sunday, May 9, 2010

I enjoyed doing the second cake class. It is amazing how many different things you can do with one tip. I have attached some pictures of the fun. My next beginning class is starting Tues. I still have openings if you want to join.

Some responses from the last cake class-

"I really liked learning how to make the flowers and the techniques." Tina

"I learned tons of neat techniques." Jill

I liked "the one on one and your willingness to let us borrow stuff." Lynnzie

Another Beginning class done....bitter, sweet.

I have really enjoyed my cake classes and have liked getting to see different people's ideas and talents. Another class just finished which is nice, but sad because of the friends I have made. I am impressed as always about the wonderful projects people come up with after learning just a few skills. Really it is nice to see what others come up with and make friends.

Basketball Birthday Cake

I had the most fun Saturday making a basketball birthday cake. The cake was started by my husband. He made the bottom one, and then asked me to finish it. I as always went overboard, but I wanted to try out my basketball cake pan. It was really fun, and although I am not a sport connoisseur I felt I did well. Here's some pics.

Sadly first beginning cake class just finished.

I have immensely enjoyed teaching cake decorating classes and am planning on teaching them on a regular basis. It was really fun to see the progress that students made as they went through the four week course. Over the course they learned basic frosting, filling, and assembling techniques. Students were also learned the shell and zig zag borders. Staring was taught and practiced on a cake as well as drop and star flowers.

Some of what the students said-

I liked "being able to create so many things with a little bit of the basics." -Marshelle

"This class was so amazing!" -Maddison age 11

"So much fun! But I loved trying new things like leaves! grin" -Gayle

"You did excellent help, and was always willing to help. TOP NOTCH!" -Sydnee age 17
